Rural Development
Another characteristic of population in Pakistan is a blend of Rural Urban divide. This not only provides rich diversity to its culture but also to its landscape. To many of the economists Pakistan is still an agricultural economy whereby out of its 160 million populations almost 67% dwell in rural areas across the country. But, unfortunately, when it comes to policy making rural areas have continuously been put on the backburner. Consequently, it is the rural masses who have been hit worst by the incidence of poverty in all its forms. All along half hearted efforts made by the Government in rural development have failed to alter the stubborn poverty syndrome in rural areas and thus the yawning gap between rich and poor is alarmingly on the rise. Anwar Jannat Memorial Foundation (AJMF) believes in the adage, “It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” In recognition of its belief, it aims at reducing the gap between marginalized rural and developed urban areas. To put our vision into action we aim to focus on rural development through. |
