Youth & Millennium Development Campaign (YMDC)
Undoubtedly, tremendous efforts are being
made to undo the scars and heal the wounds of the body fabric of an unequal
world, particularly after the Millennium Summit in 2000.Yet the journey has
just begun and it is miles and miles to go before one can say with pride that
yes today no one has slept without food, no one will die of any preventable
disease, that every one has access to safe drinking water and that the North and the South Poles are evenly balanced
in terms of resource distribution. Indeed, a far cry!
We at AJMF are staunch believers in the
amazing potential of the youth and their sincere aspiration to be a part of the
process of these initiatives at the global level being taken by UN and its
allied agencies. Therefore there is a crying need of a focused
program/initiative that cultivates the young people from across the world and
organizes them at one platform. Thus it goes without saying that if the people
of the world are seriously looking to achieve the lofty goals in the Millennium
Development Campaign, they must involve the youth who are our Today &
Tomorrow.
AJMF takes pride in sharing
the vision of UN and being an active partner in ending poverty, hunger,
discrimination and inequality from across the world. Yet we affirm that it is
through the young people that these noble aspirations can be translated into
concrete actions. Hence our youth must
be made an important stakeholder in all programs and processes devised to make
the achievement of Millennium Development Goals a reality.
